Calories counter and diet tracker

Getting an Ipod has been a good investment for me so far. Even more so that I have downloaded an application called ‘Calories counter and diet tracker’ by myfitnesspal. An app that helps record the amount of calories, and help keep track the amount of exercise needed to lose or gain the weight you want.

What I love about this app is the 450000 food nutrition facts – so you can find just about any food data on it – and also how it would estimate for you the amount of time you need if you keep on doing the same as you do everyday. Say if I only consume 1200 of calories and do a minimum of 30 minutes of workout a week, it would estimate you to be 50 kg within 4 weeks if you do the same. For me today it said that I would be 48 kg in just about 5 weeks if I continue what I’m doing today. That is really a good motivation to keep up. Last but not least, another reason I love this app, is because its free. At least at the time I downloaded it, it was free.

There are many other apps that I’d like to try. But some of them requires payment. Well, not that expensive, but they would cost a lot if added up. Perhaps when I have more income if I can find a health product affiliate program. Then perhaps. :)

3 day diet meal plan.

Christmas is not too far, and now with the Cyber Monday coming up when people would do their gift shopping, more and more people are getting into the holiday spirit. For some it is time to really get on with the program and lose weight so they would look better when they meet up with relatives on Christmas.

There are a few crash diets and the 3 day diet meal plan being one of them that some would vouch for its workability.

DAY 1

Breakfast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water
1/2 Grapefruit or Juice
1 slice toast with 1 Tbsp. Peanut Butter

Lunch

1/2 Cup of Tuna
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Dinner

3 oz. any lean meat
1 cup green beans
1 cup carrots
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1 medium apple
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

DAY 2

Breakfast

Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water
1 egg (any style)
1 slice toast
1 banana

Lunch

1 cup cottage cheese or tuna
5 saltine crackers
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Dinner

2 beef franks or hot dogs
1/2 cup carrots
1 banana
1 cup broccoli or cabbage
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

DAY 3

Breakfast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water
5 regular saltine crackers
1 oz.(slice) cheddar cheese
1 apple

Lunch

1 hard boiled egg
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Dinner

1 cup tuna
1 cup carrots
1 cup cauliflower
1 cup melon
1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Well, looking at the meal plan, it’s little wonder if people lose weight, it is rather low in calorie. No secret in that. The only problem with this plan is not that it won’t work, but most probably that after the 3 days people would usually go back to their old eating pattern. That’s when the yoyo diet effect would occur. However, if someone knows how to continue eating low caloried food like this, most probably the would be able to maintain the weight.

Not all fat are bad.

Many of us, in the hopes to get rid of fat and become slimmer, we forget that our body still needs fat to function well. There are 2 types of essential fatty acids and the ones that I know or heard often of are the gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).

I am taking evening primrose oil capsules everyday for the past few weeks, due to the GLA that it contains. It is said to help improve the skin condition and useful for Premenstrual syndrome symptoms.

The CLA on the other hand, is said, if taken in 300mg doses, it can help burn fat. If taken in doses of 4500mg, it can help build lean muscle mass when you work out.

So, I suppose if you want a healthy looking skin, and lean and slim, these are the two essential fatty acid that you should look out for in the ingredient list of supplement that you intend to take.

P90x workout.

There are many work out routines. The ones that I’m quite familiar with are aerobics, taebo, pilates, zumba, and belly dancing. The latest one that I’ve heard about is the P90x work out. A work out system that doesn’t only focuses on burning fat, but tone muscles as well.

With the P90x you will be given a 90 day work out, nutrition and dietary plan to follow. And if you follow the plan as instructed, a slimmer, healthier body can be yours. Not to mention the total replacement of your old unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one.

Now, the key to the success of this workout system is the muscle confusion. It is said that if you do the same all the time, there will be a time the body reaches a plateau and the body get used to it. And may even add up fat to some other parts of the body that were not frequently challenged in the work out. That is why in the P90x system, there are different type of work out every week, giving you a combination work out that burn fat and tone muscles.

I did read some p90x reviews on websites and videos about the work out and testimonials on youtube. They made it look quite promising. Well, good reason enough for me to check out more about this work out routine myself.

Keeping the weight in check.

I know that I have gained weight when my clothes feel tighter, and when I feel heavier. That calls for an appetite suppression affirmation for me and more exercise. I must admit that I have been eating without checking myself. Not too much of a weight gain though about 3 kg I think. But that is already a lot for me to notice it.

I was once rather overweight as I have mentioned before. That time I simply did not know how I ended up that way. It’s like one day you don’t really realize that you are over weight but the next day, you wake up and reality hit you. “I’m fat”. That is the thing I am trying  to avoid.

Prevention is easier than cure. So as long as I only have about 2-3 kg to lose, gain and lose back. It’s okay. But not more.

Boost at the gym.

I’ve only been to the gym twice if I’m not mistaken. Both times when I was pretty overweight.  I remember the first time I was at the gym, I tried the stepper machine. Thinking that I could do 20 minutes of uphill climbing, I set the machine up. I lasted 1 minute. :P Oh the shame!! Same thing happened the second time only it was on a threadmill.

I often wondered how people get the stamina and the motivation to work out at the gym. Little did I know about pre-work out supplements like no shotgun, or NeuroXplode. They are supplements that body builders take to give a boost of energy and stamina when they work out. So they can work out longer, and more effective.

I, by no means, want to be a muscle builder, but I’d like to have the same endurance or stamina while I work out. So I can burn fat faster and tone my muscles.

Never going back.

Even though there are many that actually do not work at all for any one, there are still genuine ones that do work. However, just like so many products in the market, one diet supplement that works for others may not work for you and vice versa. So among these diet supplements that do work, one still has to try out to see which one works best for oneself. Same goes to work out or food intake.

As a teenager I was like 15-20 kgs (roughly 30 – 40 lbs) overweight. Seeing how some of my friends became slimmer after drinking a certain slimming tea, I also tried. I didn’t lose weight, but just had a bad diarrhea. That’s when I learnt that what worked for my friends, didn’t work for me. But that didn’t deter me from trying some other diet supplement. Fortunately the second time I tried, nothing bad happened, and yet I didn’t lose weight either. We were not so lucky back then when we didn’t have websites to look up to to read about apidexin or phenphedrine review. Anyway, that was the second and the last time I consumed a slimming product.

After giving birth to my child, I was really afraid that I couldn’t get rid of the extra ‘blubber’ I gained over my pregnancy. What I did was I stopped eating carbohydrate and ate more protein based food. First time in 16-17 years of my life, I was 50 kgs. Felt great.

Couple of days ago, a cousin of mine uploaded some pictures of myself as a teenager on Facebook. Looking at those pictures, I realize how lucky I am to finally have found that one method that helped me lose weight, look better and feel better. I promised myself that I will never want to look the same way again as I did back then.

Yo yo effect.

I fasted for some weeks last month. Then there was also the re-arrangement work of the furniture. Which was a lot of work. (Luckily my sofas are modern sofas, so they are not as heavy as the antique furniture, but still lots of sweat involved). I was pretty excited that I’ve managed to lose at least 6 kgs in a few weeks. But just like dieting, I seem to be getting into the yo yo effect. I’ve gained back 3 kgs. :( I’d be considered lucky if I only gain back the 6 kgs that I’ve lost earlier and not more.

I am considering to fast once a week. With the hopes that I don’t gain more weight that I started off with.

Water before meals, for diet.

I’ve known about the ‘drinking before meals for dieting’ secret for ages. Not that I found it out by myself but it is something that are passed from women to women. But I suppose it takes a group of experts to prove that is actually does work huh? :)

Virginia scientists did the test on a group of people, and found out that dieters can lose 5lb or more if they drink two glasses of water three times a day before meals. Read more here.

If only…

If only there is that ultimate weightloss product that can help anyone lose weight. :) I was just reading about an article about weight loss at the mayoclinic website when I saw a list of ‘do they work’ questions. People would just love to know whether this or that really works to lose weight.

People should know this,there is actually no one product that would work the same way for every person. That is to say, what works for one person may not work for another. (While some wouldn not work for anyone :p) That’s what makes it confusing sometimes. I have read quite a few articles about how the caffein in coffee can help people lose weight, when there are people who told me that isn’t true. While some people would say, ‘well, yes they do help lose weight but only if you drink it Black and Mild‘. Frustrating isn’t it? In the end, just live a healthy livestyle and take care of what you eat. Perhaps that alone will help you lose some weight.
