Cutting down the coffee.

February 25th, 2012

I have been a coffee drinker for years and years. In fact I would be drinking nothing else other than coffee most days. So much so,

when ever I have dry skin, or break outs, my partner would suggest me to cut down on my coffee intake. Saying that it could be the reason for my skin problems. To no avail, I’d rather find other solutions rather than stop drinking coffee. I was drinking 6-7 cups a day. To me coffee was like a  duracell procell battery to keep me going all day.

However, after an illness I had a couple of weeks back and not having the usual daily caffeine intake, I decided that it was the time to reduce my coffee consumption. I know that though there are many studies suggesting that coffee can be good for health in many aspects. However, I also believe to much of anything is not good. Even the good stuff.

So I started drinking black tea instead. There caffeine in black tea, enough to perhaps curb the urge to drink coffee. For the first time in years I only drank tea for more than a week. Soon I will be moving to green or herbal tea instead. After not drinking for more than a week now, one big change I notice is how easy it is for me to fall asleep at night and I don’t get agitated easily as before.

I still love coffee and would happily drink a cup or two a week. But I will be careful not to fall back to the previous 6-7 cups a day.

Winter dryness.

February 17th, 2012

Snow and windchill had no mercy for my dryness prone skin. Everyday I have to slab on tonnes of moisturizing cream to prevent itchiness and also pain due scratching. Not to mention the flaky look when I apply foundation.

I can’t afford premium moisturizing product like natura bisse or adovia but at least I do make my own moisturizing mask out of honey and lemon juice. Well, I’d say that it doesn’t work as perfectly as the above mentioned products but it left my skin smooth for a short while. :D

Despite all that I still suffer from dry skin. Well, perhaps in the end I can just blame it on my genetics.
