Shopping therapy again.

March 30th, 2011

I’ve quite a few loved ones who celebrate their birthdays in April compared to other months. So it is indeed a time for shopping therapy again for me. Although the things won’t be for myself, but I find it equally fun and relaxing to buy things for other people. Just thinking about how happy they would be when they see what they get is in itself therapeutic I think. Checking out the latest xbox deals already leave me all happy and excited even though it wouldn’t be for me. :)

Family outings.

March 30th, 2011

Ever since I started working, family time has become more precious. Not that I meet them during the week days more often when I was staying home, but I usually feel a lot more tired now that I’m working I need a lot of rest after work and even during the weekends.

So much so we are trying to do something special every weekend other than just going to the park or stay at home and rest. Family outings to somewhere that usually would involve plenty of leg work and physical movement for my daughter especially. As of now we had already planned activities to do for the next couple of weekends. Now that the weather has turned warmer, perhaps it would a good time for the lil’ one to get her riding lessons at a ranch we usually pass by when we go to the weekend house. It would be interesting to see her wearing riding breeches and english riding boots.

It’s fascinating how my getting a job made our little family a little more closer.

To extract or not to extract.

March 30th, 2011

That is the question… to extract or not to extract my wisdom tooth. We shall find out the answer tomorrow evening. I will be heading to the dentist office after work tomorrow. To be honest, I’m nervous. For one, I haven’t been to a dentist for 20 over years I guess. I pull out most of my teeth by myself and I only got one of my teeth plugged once. I know it isn’t a good habit, but who knows after this I might be visiting a dentist for a regular check up every 6 months.

It’s something about clinics and hospitals that I don’t really like. The plain white uniforms, and whitewash walls that reminds me of pain cause people usually go to hospitals when you are in pain – well at least that is the case on my part. Perhaps if they add bright colours to the walls regardless whether it is a children clinic or not and beautifully designed nursing scrubs, perhaps that would eliminate the ‘unfriendly’ feeling of such places that many people like myself feel.

The pain that I’m enduring – without the pain killers – is something that I refuse to endure for too long. So what with a little discomfort in a clinic compared to a lot of pain afterwards? I brace myself for the appointment tomorrow. I can just hope for a nice, kind and gentle dentist.

Wisdom toothache

March 29th, 2011

My fourth and the last wisdom tooth is acting up again. It took it years to emerge from under the gums and only caused a little discomfort every once and a while. Until a few days ago when it started to hurt. Since then I had to depend on ‘algopirin’ to help me go through the days.

I have an appointment with the dentist this coming Thursday for a check up and see what should be done next. I suspect that it is growing sideways since I saw that there’s a gap or a hole. I should have got a check up sooner but since it was not painful, I was complacent. And now I have to live on algopirin to live a less painful life for this past few days. I almost ran out of those so I went to the pharmacy to get more only to learn that those need doctor’s prescription. Oh joy… you can find all sorts of diet pills from Phenterpil to adipex without prescription, but I never had thought of getting prescription for algopirin since I saw that we always had them. Fortunately for me though that they still have other types of painkillers that can be bought over the counter.

So far, so good. Now I just have to hang on there till this Thursday and see what the dentist has got to so. Hopefully everything can be done as quickly and safely as possible.

Spring

March 17th, 2011

Although I know that Spring is not formally here just yet, but the weather has turned warmer and leaves and flowers are budding and some even blooming. I’m happy because it means that soon we can hang out at the weekend house again. Yay! Looking forward to working in the garden and spending time basking in the sun while reading a book.

Right now even the thought of having to cut grass for long hours wouldn’t dampen my happiness at the thought of going there. Yes, it is one of the things we don’t like doing cause it takes too much time. Worse comes to worst we can just get one of those zero turn mowers. :)

I’m just looking forward to it. :)

Working out hard.

March 12th, 2011

I’m working out real hard these couple of weeks. Well, not really like working out as going to gym or doing any special exercises, but working hard at the work place and then at home. Doing the everyday ordinary things of going up and down the stairs, prepare things for the kids, running around with them. Then later at home I had to clean up, do the laundry, etc.

It is indeed a lot of body work out when you work with children. They have so much of energy that you had to keep up. I’m trying to juggle with house work too. I usually do things more thoroughly in the weekends than in the week days. Just lucky our floor is laminated pergo flooring that they don’t get dirty easily and they look clean most of the time.

Believe me or not, I’ve lost nearly 6 pounds in 2 weeks. :P

Accupressure for nose congestion.

March 5th, 2011

Because I just started working last week, and getting sick right now is really not a good idea. So I’m doing everything I can to feel better and look better hopefully by tomorrow evening. I would google about anything and everything – from who married who or where to get the best billiard supplies – so no surprise that I would google about the best way to clear nose congestion.

I came across an interesting information about getting rid of nose congestion using accupressure. Accupressure is a method of applying pressure, instead of needles, to accupunture points.

Credit to mind-energy.net for method and image.

1. Perform the below routine 3 times:

  • Perform 10 pressures on a cavity at the corner of the nostrils (point 1). You should almost close and open the nostrils when you do the round movement.
  • Perform 10 pressures on a cavity just below the corner of the eyes near the nose (point 2)
  • Perform 10 pressures on a cavity just below the ear, behind the earlobe (point 3)
  • Massage the earlobe 10 times (point 4)

2. After performing the above 3 times, you should feel immediate relief of your nasal congestion. It is advised to return on the above procedure again in about 10 minutes to make it more permanent or the congestion could return.

At the moment I don’t have a nasal congestion. More of a runny nose. So I’ve no idea just yet how good this would work. But when I do get a congestion I would definitely try this out. No drugs involve, only a few minutes of your time and a promise that you will get rid of a troublesome nose congestion, it is indeed worth a try.

Update: yeah I think it did work. But need to do it a few times.

Getting flu vaccine?

March 5th, 2011

I am not feeling too well today. Not as bad as yesterday though. I’ve been working hard this week at my new job. At a private kindergarten. I love the work but it can be really tiring. Most probably I still am not used to it as I’ve been at home for years. Also that my body is not immune to all sort of virus that I may contract while commuting and also at the kindergarten.

Feeling this way made me think of getting a flu vaccine. I’ve never had one before in my life but I really hate getting sick. Especially I get flu symptoms once a month or so. I’m seriously looking into it and may check with my doctor to ask about it sometime next week perhaps. Good thing I won’t have to look into what brand or what type of vaccine like when you do shopping for things like lightings, spa cover, or parquet floor.

Will check on with my doctor for a visit appointment soon.
