Dog therapy.

They say having a dog would ensure us to have some sort of work out everyday. A walk the very least. That’s why doctors would encourage elderly people to get themselves dogs. So that they would have to make themselves go out and walk the dog and they themselves get the exercise they need at the same time. Another reason is, it can be that having a dog around it would make people a lot calmer and happier. Well, we all would feel happier and calmer knowing that we have a loyal and trustable friend around that can keep us company and protect us.

For me, there would also be another good reason to have a dog. Just like children, we’d have to buy accessories for them. Well, the very least a ball and toys for them to chew on. I’d enjoy the shopping therapy from buying all the cute accessories. Stylish dog clothes, dog bed, and even a fancy dog house. It all depends on people though. Some people would definitely pamper their pet dogs like kings and queens. Perhaps that too is a therapy in itself. :)

Unaware of being overweight.

I read an interesting article today about how women are being unaware of their overweight problem. Which means that these women are overweight yet they feel as if that is the normal or average weight that they should be in. I know how it is since I think I went through the same too. I didn’t realize that until it was harder to lose the weight. I suppose that is how some people can become fatter and fatter. At first they don’t realize it, when they realize it was too late.

I always envy those who are the type who by nature a person who are active. The type who would go and polish all the kitchen utensils all just because they feel like they had to move. These type of people are the ones who would usually stay lean even if they are the sort who would work out. Well, at least that’s what I know about active people that I know.

As the weather turned colder and colder, more and more people are catching cold. One of them is me. Guess that my immune system isn’t that strong after all. I have been having this cough for over a month now only to be added with a little flu. Gosh, I just don’t know when this coughing will stop.

Well… I just hope that this will not prolong, as it sometimes can in this sort of weather, with toys to buy for the kids for birthday and Christmas and other Christmas shopping this weekend. I should be taking more vitamin C,  just in case.

3 day diet meal plan.

Christmas is not too far, and now with the Cyber Monday coming up when people would do their gift shopping, more and more people are getting into the holiday spirit. For some it is time to really get on with the program and lose weight so they would look better when they meet up with relatives on Christmas.

There are a few crash diets and the 3 day diet meal plan being one of them that some would vouch for its workability.

DAY 1

Breakfast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water
1/2 Grapefruit or Juice
1 slice toast with 1 Tbsp. Peanut Butter

Lunch

1/2 Cup of Tuna
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Dinner

3 oz. any lean meat
1 cup green beans
1 cup carrots
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1 medium apple
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

DAY 2

Breakfast

Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water
1 egg (any style)
1 slice toast
1 banana

Lunch

1 cup cottage cheese or tuna
5 saltine crackers
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Dinner

2 beef franks or hot dogs
1/2 cup carrots
1 banana
1 cup broccoli or cabbage
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

DAY 3

Breakfast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water
5 regular saltine crackers
1 oz.(slice) cheddar cheese
1 apple

Lunch

1 hard boiled egg
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Dinner

1 cup tuna
1 cup carrots
1 cup cauliflower
1 cup melon
1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream
Black coffee or tea (Sweet & Low or Equal) or water

Well, looking at the meal plan, it’s little wonder if people lose weight, it is rather low in calorie. No secret in that. The only problem with this plan is not that it won’t work, but most probably that after the 3 days people would usually go back to their old eating pattern. That’s when the yoyo diet effect would occur. However, if someone knows how to continue eating low caloried food like this, most probably the would be able to maintain the weight.

Determined to stay happy.

What with this gloomy weather this couple of days, it can be a easy for me to slip into depression. Interesting enough, even after placing an order for my new ipod touch last evening, I couldn’t help but feel a little low. On cheerful days, even by just doing a little online window shopping of wedding gifts, christmas gifts or even groomsmen gifts would make me happy already.

I’ve been trying the 100 day challenge which I’m doing privately for myself. Keeping record of my thoughts and feelings every day – I have a special journal for this. So I keep track on my emotions and not let it take control over me and tackle it before it gets any worse. At least this helps I think. Helps a lot. Writing on the journal and reading it back again reminds me to focus on my goal – to be happy no matter what the circumstances. Finding the little happiness that makes life bearable.

Thanks to this, I can say that although I do slip once in a while, but I always manage to get back in line quick enough. :)

Super smellers and obesity.

Although in general obesity is due to overeating and lack in exercise, scientist keep on looking for the underlying reasons why this is so. They came up with a study result which shows that people who has keen sense of smell tend to eat more even when they are already full. Full article here.

It is interesting and is good to know that if this is true then they can come up with something to help super smellers who are having problems with their weight to overcome this.

On the contrary, I ‘ve read that, super tasters – people who has heighten tasting ability – tend to eat less. They are the people who usually don’t drink alcohol or smoke.

Well, obesity is indeed a problem in many societies these days. Not suprising that studies are still being made to find out why this happens and then find solutions to overcome overweight problems. I have even come across sleep pills that also help decrease weight. How about that?

People become overweight for all sorts of reasons, I believe. So I do hope researchers will keep on doing what they are doing and find our more underlying causes for obesity.

First medal.

It was not too long ago when my 4 year old came back home with her first medal. She participated in a sport at the kindergarten. Reminded me of my first trophy I got when I was 7 years old on School’s sports day. I was quite an active child. I had a few more sport trophies after that.

However, the more I aged, the more a couch potato I became. Well, not so now though since I stopped watching tv much, and I have to move about when I have to play or go for a walk with my daughter.

Anyhow, I don’t know though where my trophies are now. Moved from one place to another too often that we’ve lost many items along the way. But looking at the medal my girl brought back, brought back memories of the active me. That it self is in a way a reminder for myself to keep on being active.
