My mom used to tell me that when the weather is cold, people tend to eat more. She knew because she sold food for a living when we were little. It’s easier for the food to be sold out on rainy days, she said. I thought it was just her opinion. But then again, after reading this article – http://www.fsbmedia.com/article_display.php?article_id=931 – I believe her. Seems like people tend to gain weight easily in winter due to the increase of appetite and decrease in activities. Read the full article to know why.
Well, it’s really interesting. I suppose it explains why I am feeling hungry at 12 am and munching on chocolate biscuits while blogging this. At the moment it’s 5°C outside. I promise I will work hard burning the calories I gain now, tomorrow – raking and tiding up the garden. And if the outdoor lighting in the garden works, might spend sometime outdoors a bit longer then.
Some trees around the neighbourhood has already started changing colour and shedding some leaves. I suppose those are the early ones. It also shows that the weather is turning cold. Daytime is becoming shorter and shorter as well.
One Autumn activity that we as a family enjoy doing together is walking through the woods. Enjoying the various colours of the leaves and enjoying the cool fresh forest air. Just to stop to drink some hot cocoa or tea that we brought from home.
Well, I’m just looking forward to those walks. Hopefully, next week or the week after if doesn’t rain. But that is next weeks plan. The plan for right now is something else. Going to do some directory submission for this blog of mine.
I’ve only been to the gym twice if I’m not mistaken. Both times when I was pretty overweight. I remember the first time I was at the gym, I tried the stepper machine. Thinking that I could do 20 minutes of uphill climbing, I set the machine up. I lasted 1 minute. Oh the shame!! Same thing happened the second time only it was on a threadmill.
I often wondered how people get the stamina and the motivation to work out at the gym. Little did I know about pre-work out supplements like no shotgun, or NeuroXplode. They are supplements that body builders take to give a boost of energy and stamina when they work out. So they can work out longer, and more effective.
I, by no means, want to be a muscle builder, but I’d like to have the same endurance or stamina while I work out. So I can burn fat faster and tone my muscles.
A week after giving birth I started to do crunches. 100 a day. Being so out of shape as I was then, I couldn’t even do 20 crunches straight. I didn’t do 100 crunches at one shot, but in intervals. For example 10-15 crunches in the morning, another 10 -15 while taking a break watching my favourite tv programme and so on. But I made myself to do 100 crunches a day.
After 5 months, even though I still had a bit of the pregnancy fat left, my tummy became flatter. Well, I didn’t notice it at first until friends and neighbours pointed that out to me. Even now I still can feel my ab muscles. Sure nowadays you can buy anoretix cheap, to help burn fat. But when it comes to stronger flatter tummy, you still need to do a little work out. Well, that’s my own humble opinion.
I haven’t been doing exactly 100 crunches a day. Less than that. Better than nothing, but I would like to do 100 crunches a day. Hope to have the same determination I had back then.
Even though there are many that actually do not work at all for any one, there are still genuine ones that do work. However, just like so many products in the market, one diet supplement that works for others may not work for you and vice versa. So among these diet supplements that do work, one still has to try out to see which one works best for oneself. Same goes to work out or food intake.
As a teenager I was like 15-20 kgs (roughly 30 – 40 lbs) overweight. Seeing how some of my friends became slimmer after drinking a certain slimming tea, I also tried. I didn’t lose weight, but just had a bad diarrhea. That’s when I learnt that what worked for my friends, didn’t work for me. But that didn’t deter me from trying some other diet supplement. Fortunately the second time I tried, nothing bad happened, and yet I didn’t lose weight either. We were not so lucky back then when we didn’t have websites to look up to to read about apidexin or phenphedrine review. Anyway, that was the second and the last time I consumed a slimming product.
After giving birth to my child, I was really afraid that I couldn’t get rid of the extra ‘blubber’ I gained over my pregnancy. What I did was I stopped eating carbohydrate and ate more protein based food. First time in 16-17 years of my life, I was 50 kgs. Felt great.
Couple of days ago, a cousin of mine uploaded some pictures of myself as a teenager on Facebook. Looking at those pictures, I realize how lucky I am to finally have found that one method that helped me lose weight, look better and feel better. I promised myself that I will never want to look the same way again as I did back then.
I fasted for some weeks last month. Then there was also the re-arrangement work of the furniture. Which was a lot of work. (Luckily my sofas are modern sofas, so they are not as heavy as the antique furniture, but still lots of sweat involved). I was pretty excited that I’ve managed to lose at least 6 kgs in a few weeks. But just like dieting, I seem to be getting into the yo yo effect. I’ve gained back 3 kgs. I’d be considered lucky if I only gain back the 6 kgs that I’ve lost earlier and not more.
I am considering to fast once a week. With the hopes that I don’t gain more weight that I started off with.
shopping with the primary purpose of improving the buyer’s mood or disposition. Often seen in people during periods of depression or transition, it is normally a short-lived habit. Items purchased during periods of retail therapy are sometimes referred to as “comfort buys”.
I, like many others I’m sure, am also very prone to compulsive buying, or comfort buying. I just ordered a simple craft material off ebay, and it felt good. Though compulsive buying, although it can be a sort of therapy when one is in a depressive mood, but if not monitored, it may even be a cause of a big debt problem. That is why for me I will always try to make my purchases small or non-expensive.
Christmas is more or less 3 months away and yet, I’ve already made a list of gifts to buy. Lists of toys, holiday jewelry picks, gadgets, books, etc. I don’t think it is too early to start buying presents especially if you have many people to buy for. In fact you may even find a good bargain.
So for me right now, the mission of 2-3 gifts to buy a month is a sort of buying therapy. Feels good to buy gifts for loved ones.
When I went out today morning, I could see some of the trees have started to change colour. So… it really is autumn. I used to be very afraid of cold weather, due to my dry skin problem which I thought was eczema. I used to try from one eczema treatment to another to no avail. But since I’ve changed my diet a little, taken zinc supplements, the driness has diminished somehow. I still get them sometimes but manageable.
Living with dry skin problems, I can imagine how hard it is for those having to live with eczema. I even followed a discussion forum where eczema sufferers would exchange their views and experiences handling their daily lives. That’s when I realize how lucky I was and that my problem wasn’t half as bad as what some people go through. One thing I believe is not to give up in finding the right solution to your skin problems. And I’m glad after years and years, I finally have moisturized skin. Now my next challenge is to try to get rid of the scars.
Everything cost a fortune these days – a phrase that I’ve been hearing a lot these days and have said it myself too. From clothes, to food, to housing and even medication. Despite having to pay for a life and health insurance policy every month, my policy does not cover medication.
Now, since I am getting sick pretty often these days, with cold and fever mostly and now allergy, Medicare part D plans did come into mind. It’s a prescription drug coverage insurance. It would be good to have something like this so that for those who relies on medication wouldn’t have to spend a fortune on it.
Here’s an interesting video on ‘medicare part D plan’ that I found on youtube.
One of the many recipies for peace of mind is – get a productive hobby and maintain it. I suppose the saying, ‘an idle mind, is the devil’s workshop’ does mean something. Hobby is just like work,it keeps our mind away from thinking of negativities, but unlike most work, it also creates calmness and happiness – glass tile craft, crochet, photography, painting etc.
I love studying languages. Though now I can only speak 2 languages rather fluently, I’m learning to more. Hindi and Japanese. Gives me great pleasure when I watch a movie or listen to songs in these languages and I could pick up the meanings here and there. Totally relaxes me when I study, I forget all the little daily problems and worries.
It is interesting though that I’ve heard people saying that their hobby is sleeping. I’d say that it isn’t so productive, but well, if that gives them happiness and peace of mind who are we to judge.
